Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how L2Trivia (formerly L2Repository), operated from Hungary ("L2Trivia", "we", "us", or "our"), collects and uses personal data when you visit l2trivia.com or use its services.

1. Who controls your data

L2Trivia is the controller of personal data processed for this website. Questions and privacy requests can be submitted through our contact form or by email at [email protected].

2. Data we collect

Depending on how you use L2Trivia, we may collect:

• Account data: name or display name, email address, password hash, email-verification status, newsletter preference, friend code, and account status.
• Player-profile data: favorite Lineage II chronicle, preferred server rates, region, and other preferences you choose to provide.
• Social-login data: if you choose Google Sign-In, Google provides your account identifier, name, and email address. If you choose Telegram Login, Telegram may provide your Telegram identifier, name, username, and profile-photo URL. We also receive authentication credentials required to maintain the connection. We never receive your Google or Telegram password.
• Quiz and community activity: quiz answers, scores, attempt history, language, timestamps, friend relationships and invitations, and player ranking or progress information.
• Server-listing data: information submitted for a Lineage II server, ownership claims, moderation requests, and related account identifiers. Published server information may be visible publicly.
• Advertising data: campaigns, creatives, target slot, bid amounts, auction results, spend records, and campaign status. Approved advertising content may be publicly displayed.
• Purchase and transaction data: products or tokens purchased, amount, currency, status, payment-provider references, invoice or billing details where supplied, and fraud-prevention results. Payment-card or account credentials are handled by the payment provider rather than stored by L2Trivia.
• Communications: information you send through support, contact, moderation, or other forms.
• Technical and security data: IP address, user agent, session identifiers, request timestamps, login and security events, and application logs.

3. How we obtain data

We receive data directly from you, automatically from your browser when you use the service, from Google or Telegram when you select social login, from payment providers when you make a purchase, and from public server-listing sources when server information is imported. Imported server records may later be claimed or corrected by an authorized server owner.

4. Why we use data and our legal bases

• Contract: to create and operate your account, authenticate you, save quiz results, provide rankings and social features, manage server listings, deliver token purchases, and run advertising campaigns you request.
• Legitimate interests: to secure and improve the service, prevent abuse and fraud, diagnose failures, moderate content, measure service reliability, enforce our terms, and respond to support requests. We balance these interests against your rights.
• Consent: for optional newsletters and where consent is otherwise requested. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
• Legal obligation: to keep records or disclose information where tax, accounting, consumer-protection, fraud-prevention, or other applicable law requires it.

5. When data is shared

We do not sell your personal data. We disclose only the data needed to operate the service to:

• hosting, infrastructure, database, security, and email providers;
• Google and Telegram when you choose their login services;
• Stripe and PayPal when you use the relevant payment method;
• professional advisers, auditors, or authorities where reasonably necessary to protect rights, investigate abuse, or comply with law; and
• a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of the service, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Other websites linked from L2Trivia apply their own privacy policies. Public server listings and advertisements may link to third-party sites; L2Trivia does not control those sites.

6. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside Hungary or the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers are protected by an adequacy decision, approved contractual safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful transfer mechanism. Provider-specific details are available in their privacy notices.

7. Cookies and local storage

L2Trivia uses essential cookies and similar storage for sessions, login state, security, CSRF protection, language, and preferences. Disabling essential cookies may prevent account, quiz, payment, and other interactive features from working. Google, Telegram, Stripe, or PayPal may set or read their own cookies when you interact with their login widgets or payment pages under their respective policies.

We do not currently state that we use cross-site behavioral advertising or remarketing cookies. If non-essential analytics or advertising tracking is introduced, this policy and any required consent controls will be updated before that use.

8. Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above:

• account and profile data are generally kept while your account is active;
• quiz history, friend data, server-management records, and advertising records are kept while needed to provide those features and resolve disputes;
• financial and transaction records are retained for applicable tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and legal periods;
• security and application logs are retained for a limited operational period unless an incident requires longer preservation; and
• backups may retain deleted data temporarily until the normal backup cycle overwrites it.

We may retain minimal information longer where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, comply with law, or prevent repeated abuse. Data that no longer identifies a person may be retained for statistics and service improvement.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted transport, password hashing, access controls, and application-security measures. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Please use a unique password and notify us if you suspect unauthorized account access.

10. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law, including the GDPR, you may request access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent for consent-based processing. You also have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects; L2Trivia does not currently make such decisions.

Submit a request through our contact form or email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity. We normally respond within the period required by law. Some requests may be limited where retention or processing is legally required.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) through the NAIH complaint information page, or with the supervisory authority where you live or work.

11. Children

L2Trivia is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 without valid parental authorization where required. If you believe a child has provided personal data improperly, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

12. Public information and your choices

Do not submit secrets or personal information in server listings, advertising creatives, or other fields intended for public display. You may update player preferences from My Progress, unsubscribe from optional marketing communications, and disconnect Google or Telegram through the relevant provider. Disconnecting a provider does not automatically delete the L2Trivia account or data already received; contact us if you also want deletion.

13. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated date will be shown at the top. If a change materially affects how we use personal data, we will provide an appropriate notice and request consent where required.
